Grounded in local observation
Solar-powered stations measure conditions in our waterways and transmit observations over LTE every five minutes. Together, these records help our community understand how local waters change over time.
Each station reports logger temperature and battery voltage. An in-water CTD measures conductivity, depth, and water temperature; PKBK3S also reports turbidity. Loggers synchronize to an NIST time server and retain time with a backup clock battery. PKBK7S and PKBK9S have 9 W / 6 V solar panels; PKBK10S has a 12 W / 12 V panel.
Switch between metric (meters, °C) and US standard (feet, °F) anywhere on the page. Charts, station cards, popups, elevations, and the map scale update together. Conductance, turbidity, and voltage retain their scientific units. All displayed times use America/New_York, including daylight saving time. CSV exports contain the returned observations, UTC timestamps, and both unit systems. Observations refresh every five minutes while the page is visible.
